POETRY OF THE WEEK
" OVER PROTECTED "
BY: Annie Boyd
Age: 13
Sometimes I got to go through life on my own,
So I won't be so lost when I'm oh so grown,
This over protection, I don't want for me,
This over protection, I wish would let me free,
In this household I've been treated like a baby,
Out in the real world I was considered a young lady,
I've been put through so much pain and not enough pleasure,
I’ve been thrown to the side and deserted in a desert,
I don't know if the world can go anymore wrong,
But I want everyone to feel the pain, I’ve been holding for oh so long,
They say that kids don't tell the truth,
Parents do more lying if you ask me, I got the proof,
As I sit here and write, a lot of tears drop from my face,
My eye vision is getting blurry but this memory I can't erase,
When I'm in this house I feel hypocritical,
What may happen next is unpredictable,
I try to let all my feelings out this way,
and hope that later on I'll be ok,
I’ve been vexed, scorn, and torn apart,
I was just wondering is this the end or is it a start???

TALENT OF THE WEEK
Diamond Shines
(Age: 12, Brooklyn, New York -U.S., )
Diamond has been a member of the Radio Disney 2003 North-East Tour with the likes of platinum
recording artists Lil Romeo, The Little Tykes, Allure, Cassey, Erika, Latheif and Usher’s little
brother Lil D. Diamond Crystal Johnson, better known as “LiL Mama,” is as natural as running water.
She is a young artist that is beginning to make her presence felt in the billion-dollar music
business. One could say that Diamond has a heavy mind, a golden voice, and blessed with a long
list of talents.
LiL Mama is ready to win the hearts and minds of and become America's Little Sweetheart. Born
the youngest sibling of four brothers and one sister, Diamond was determined to let her elder
siblings know that she was capable of doing whatever they could do and take it up a level.
From the age of 3-years-old, Diamond wanted to be front center on stage. The public first saw
her talent at a local talent show where her star quality was evident. Diamond has it!
Diamond performed on various occasions with her Girl Scout troop but will be most remembered
for a performance with her brother for which she received a standing ovation for her rendition
of Erykah Badu's "Tyrone." For Diamond, this was the point of no return. She was involved in
every local talent show in her local area and after capturing so many titles, her confidence
grew stronger, which led her to venture out of the Brooklyn comfort zone and snatch wins from
all over.
