Alice + Olivia Tired of constantly having to tailor their clothes so they would fit just so, Stacey Bendet Wiener and best friend Rebecca Winn decided to start making their own. They started with the most troublesome garments, pants, and set about making the perfect pair. They started their own
fashion design company and named it after their mothers, Alice & Olivia.
Stacey and Rebecca are 24 and 25 years old respectively. Stacey was an advertising executive and Rebecca a web site developer. Both went to the University of Pennsylvania but neither studied fashion there. They both loved to shop and have their own clothes made. Everyone always wanted their pants so they decided that maybe everyone should be able to have their pants.
Living in New York City they ran up against the common problem of not enough closet space for all their clothes. What they noticed was that they were up against the denim drudgery of way too much of one color taking up way too much closet space, they wanted COLOR and they wanted it to be fun and have a funky flare with a cool low slung fit. So they started making jeans colorful and funky.
There is the Olivia style that is very much cut like a jean and then there's the Alice cut that is like a low wasted pant with a slit leg. All their waist bands are lined with fun colors, florals, fruits, and funky designs. They even have pairs that are custom painted by artists like Peter Beard, Maurizio Zuluaga, Molly McNeely, and Lulu Kwiatkoswki. And best of all these low slung pants are a perfect fit!
These pants are a sure way to brighten up your closet, receive stops and stares on the street, and insure that you will not be one of seventeen wearing the same jeans at your next function. Stacey and Rebecca only make a limited number of each style and they use fabrics from all over the world, Europe, Africa, Asia, etc... They love to use stripes, prints and fabrics that make people smile.
Keep an eye out for this pair of up and coming young designers... you should see more of their styles on the runway and on the street.
