SEARCH FOR THE MOST TALENTED KID
Articles from those that attended the NBC audition.
This page is dedicated to all those that put forth the courage to attend and perform
for NBC's recent audition call for their upcoming TV show "SEARCH FOR THE MOST TALENTED KID"
Trying to "Make It" in the entertainment business is hard work and sometimes
seems like you can never get there. But never quitting is key. And putting yourself
in front of people that may or may not think you have what they want it hard on anyone.
Adult or Kid.
So, this page is written by some of the Kids that put themselves out there for the world
to see and took a chance. It takes courage and confidence and dedication to get into
showbiz.
Here are their stories:
Zachary Moore
Stand-Up Comedian
Orlando, Florida
By Jerry Moore
I have to tell you from a comedian's angle, not a Dad, or a manager, etc, Zachery was OFF THE HOOK!!!
From the time Zak got up that morning, he was so good. NBC was filming kids and their talent in the
waiting area. They heard what Zak did and wanted to film him but he said no. But when we got to the
second waiting area, they asked him again and he did it. Every adult in the room was laughing thru
the whole thing. The people from NBC that were in the room were also
Laughing.
When we got into the audition area, Zak was first, (because of the pre-booking, Thank You). In the
2nd waiting room they told everybody they were getting 45-60 seconds. I spoke up and said to them
that we were told we got 1:30. They then said if they didn't stop you keep going, if they stop you
early we are sorry but….
Zak went up to the stage area, held up his little blue paper with his name and stuff, he told them
who he was and off he went. The two judges (1 male, 1 female) being judges tried to stay straight
faced but they couldn't. The male judge was trying to stay straight faced more as he had a pasted
on smile that came close to being laughter, the female judge was laughing. When he got to the end
of his set, which we had timed out to 1:32-1:36, they did not tell him to stop. We had it worked
out that if when he reached the end to count off '1001.' If they don't stop you, drop in another bit.
Well, that is what he did and at the end of THAT bit, which was about 10-14 seconds, they still did
not stop him! Zak said thank you that's my time and it was over.. Everybody dug him a lot. I had
asked earlier if they had had any stand up comedians anywhere and they said no!
Of course we may never hear from NBC at all. I only ask one thing of my son and of his comedy… That
at that time -and at that place- he did the very best he could have done. He always does that and
always surpasses my hopes. Saturday was no different. Zak rose to the occasion.
We will gladly drive back to Atlanta for a Call-Back. From here in Orlando it's 7 hours, but it would
be worth it. And regardless of what happens we still have to be in Chicago for 3 nights at the
Comedy-Spot. If it's our time for NBC, then we will be on the show. If not, then we know we will
have our day. The life of a up and coming comedian never changes. It's lots of miles, days away from
home, and all for one thing; To hear the laughter of a room of people.

My dad took me to the 21st of April audition in Miami. There were many kids
from everywhere auditioning. I played the piano and chose Jazz which is what
I play most. I felt very comfortable. After my performance I was given a
call back and was interviewed extensively. My dad too. I came back again the
next day. This time I performed two more Jazz songs. I was almost the last of
about 15 kids that were called back out of hundreds of kids that auditioned.
After my performance I was very happy as I was given a letter to fax the
next day to LA. I feel good about it. I just have to wait and see what LA
decides. I have my fingers crossed. Thank You KidKountry.

I attended the Audition on the 22nd of February in Dallas, Texas I arrived
early and as I entered the hotel lobby, many kids and parents were
already in line. As i waited in line, the NBC staff came out and gave us
information about the audition process. As soon as possible, I went to the
prebooked table to pick up registration materials as previously instructed.
During all this time the cameras were rolling and interviewing all contestants.
The participants all seemed to be excited and talented in various fields. Upon
completing the registration material I was interviewed by the NBC staff and then
auditioned. As I was leaving I was interviewed again. I then left for home.
There was great excitement in our home Sunday Morning when the phone rang and it
was NBC asking me to return for a final audition.
As I entered the lobby I was called into a room for further interviews. Following
this I was asked to sing before the judges. I sing only gospel music. My choice
was to sing an original entitled "Like An Eagle" and a Hank Williams song called
"I Saw The Light". This was done a cappella.
Upon completion of my songs I was once again
interviewed by the judges. As I left the room the cameras were waiting outside
and I was questioned about the audition.
My reply was that the audition was exciting and great fun and that the NBC
staff was courteous and gracious. My Mom was then interviewed and we left for
home with a feeling of happiness and excitement. It was a great honor to be
there. I wish all contestants well.
The Hemphills
Chattanooga, TN
We wanted to tell of our audition in Nashville for the NBC talent search but
we were told we could not perform as a group.
But please note we put a show on for the people that were waiting in the
room to audition. We were know there as The Hemphills. We were interviewed
and my sister Jacoby sang and when she finished she was told to go up stairs.
When we got up stairs she was told that she could come back the next at a
schedule time for another audition. She went back the next day and was told
she did excellent.
Our Mom and her were interviewed. We are praying she gets a call that would
be a blessing for our family.
Just to let you know, we had won the "Make a Wish" contest in East Chattanooga.

Going to the audition for the most talented kid was a great experience. It
started at 10 am and ended at 6 pm. So terribly long. When I first entered
the line I didn't see how many people were ahead of me in the room in front
and I thought I was in the beginning of the line. But no, the line went on
forever, and I was standing in it for more than two hours.
I was # 179. And that's not all, the line was just to get an application, not
to audition yet. So after that, the audition numbers were being called but it
was only on number 50. AAhhhhhhh!!!
Therefore, I had to wait about 3- 4 more hours to be called. I was starving,
so my family and I went to the nearest Subway. After eating we stayed in the
car and I practiced my act, which was singing.
At first I was practicing my song, "There you Go" by Pink. But my family
thought the song was too fast. Thank Goodness I had other instrumentals on
my cd so then I practiced "For You I Will" by Monica.
My family thought it was perfect and I did too. We went back to the Marriot
Hotel and waited a few hours. As time went on, I went from cool and relaxed,
to a nervous wreck. By the time it came for me to audition, my mouth was dry,
I was sweaty, but still confident.
I went up there and forgot the words to the second line, I squeaked a bit
also. My nervousness took over. But next time I know not to be so nervous.
Especially after waiting 7-8 hours to audition for only 30 seconds. It wasn't
fair that the first auditions lasted about 2 minutes but after they changed
it to 30 seconds. And I messed most of the seconds up.
Oh well, I'm glad that I did it. Next time, I'll be ready. Thank you.

When I entered the lobby of the hotel, kids and parents were everywhere! Some
kids were being interviewed on camera. I waited in the long line until the
NBC staff came out and gave instructions about the audition process.
Once the green room was opened for all to enter, I went to the pre-booked table
to pick-up the registration material. Also, during this time the camera was
rolling and I was interviewed.
After completing the registration material, things moved very quickly. I waited
with the second group of ten kids, as they only took 10 kids at a time in the
audition room. It was not until this wait that I began to get a little nervous
and excited. During this time, everyone was practicing, I did vocal warm-ups.
For my audition, I sang "Some Enchanted Evening" The judges smiled. I
received a T-Shirt that says, "I TRIED OUT TO BE THE MOST TALENTED KID IN AMERICA NBC"
The next day, my mom picked me up from rehearsal after school and told me that I
got a call-back and that we needed to be in Orlando at 6:15p.m. I couldn't
believe that I got a call-back. I was relieved, honored and grateful for the
call-back opportunity.
At my call-back I sang, "My Everything" a cappella and "The Impossible Dream".
After I sang, the judges interviewed me and said "Good Job". The camera
followed us out the door and they interviewed my mother, my brother and I.

The audition itself was all right. It was so huge. There were
so many little kids at the Denver audition and it was great.
I got to be in the last group to audition. But I got recorded
and also might be used as a CD. It's a blue dot thing you get.
It's nervous when you first get there because when you start
to audition the two judges are starring at you and one is
writing and then the other group members are watching with
there parents.
It's like whoa! But after all that it's all worth it and fun
to do!!
I didn't get pre-booked in time for the audition so I had to
wait like two hours. That was bad. But anyways the audition
was way WORTH it!
I want to wish Joey Pearson GOOD LUCK in his auditioning in
the San Diego audition."
Zack Cobb
Cabot, Arkansas
We went to the Nashville, Tennessee audition (we live in
Arkansas) and had a great time. Zack performed on the drum's
where he did "House of the Rising Sun," A Blue's Riff, and
Ended with "Wipe Out."
We put the three songs in a medley and the judges gave him
the go ahead for about 1 minute longer than normal. He also
got the "BLUE DOT" thing. We still got our fingers crossed.
It was a wet day to move a drum set around though. But there
was a lot of talented kids there. Thanks for the opportunity."

I went to the NBC casting call in Orlando. It was really
fun. There were tons of kids there to audition. Ten kids at
a time went in to the audition room and each kid had 1:30
seconds to do their stuff in front of the two judges. Also,
a big bright light was in your face and a large camera pointed
at you.
There were cameras everywhere. I was even interviewed a few
times on camera and asked why I thought I was the most talented
kid in America. They even blue dotted my entry paper which
means I might be on the commercial for the show.
All the kids in the waiting area, or greenroom as they called
it, were practicing and getting ready for the audition. There
were kids singing, dancing, and even playing guitar. I was
practicing my dance. It was a hip-hop dance. They even gave
everyone a T-shirt that said, "I tried out for the most
talented kid in America on NBC.
